About This Game It’s 1968 and after years of combat in Vietnam, Lincoln Clay knows this truth: family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for. Now back home in New Bordeaux, Lincoln is set on escaping a criminal past. But when his surrogate family, the black mob, is betrayed and wiped out by the Italian Mafia, Lincoln builds a new family on the ashes of the old and blazes a path of military-grade revenge through those responsible. Intense gun fights, visceral hand-to-hand combat, white knuckle driving and street smarts will all be needed. But with the right crew, tough decisions and some dirty hands, it’s possible to make it to the top of the city's underworld.NEW BORDEAUX, A REIMAGINED 1968 NEW ORLEANS: A vast, diverse and seedy open world ruled by the mob and corrupt officials and richly detailed with the sights, sounds and emotionally-charged social atmosphere of the era.AN UNINTENDED AND LETHAL ANTI-HERO: Be Lincoln Clay, an orphan and Vietnam veteran hell bent on revenge against the Italian Mafia for the brutal slaughter of the black mob, the closest thing to family he’s ever had.REVENGE YOUR WAY: Choose your own personal play-style, from brute force and blazing guns to stalk-and-kill tactics as you use Lincoln’s military training and gathered intel to tear down the Italian Mafia. You really get to know the characters and have empathy. The controls and gameplay is just like GTA series and open world feeling like that. Very detailed realism. The driving is just like GTA as well as shooting and melee. The racism in the game is a bit over the top, my biggest complaint. I dont have a huge problem with it though because some racism did exist in the later 60s especially down in the south. If it had been cast as happening today I would have turned the game off early on and abandoned it. Some may find the "SJW" contexts here overwhelming but I tolerated it because of the time period in America that the story takes place. Lots of use of the "N" word. I really enjoyed the story and the voice acting was about as good as it gets IMO. Done well. I dont know why this game got so many bad reviews. The game ran well on my pc too, some comlained about it not being optimized, but I had good frame rate etc and most settings were on full. i use a gtx 1080.The sound in the game is excellent, just like GTA. I played it in dolby 5.1 o my sound blaster card running through a stereo system. Lots of special work on directional sounds. So much realism.I got over 70 hours of gameplay doing just about everything. i gave up on winning all of the races, I think I had 3 more to go but they are a pain in the butt to win. You can upgrade Sammy's bar, that is a really cool thing to do and there are some special missions that open up as well as a nice ending that plays. Then you can also run a weed growing operation where you can even grow hybrids. Lots and lots to do in the game. Tons of side missions etc.. This game is unplayable on pc, I have only played this game for an hour or more and I've been countering a few major bugs. The guns does not make sounds when shooting, falling trough the ground, cutscene freezez while the sound is still on, the controller vibration does not work, invisible walls, and a few smaller ones.. Go play Mafia 2 instead. I purchased this game early 2019, well after a storm of negative reviews had killed all hype for me, and the game had a few years to eliminate all bugs. The result? A mostly enjoyable experience, with all negatives being oversights on the developers part. The Story? It's a standard "they killed my master" revenge story, which, while enjoyable in the context of Jim Crow and Vietnam era US, I still found myself thinking that I had heard this somewhere before. It also has slow moments, where the story is padded out for gameplay. If you're coming from Mafia 2, don't expect as many level set pieces like the hotel or Chinatown, as those are much more sparse, being replaced by copy and paste hideouts where, if you've been to one, you've been to them all. Remember this, It becomes important later. The Graphics? In vanilla game, they're passable, but the world it stuck firmly in the early 2010's era cliche of making every a shade of brown or brown tinted. It gives this world a really still and dead atmosphere that just isn't fun to play in at all. To rectify this, I installed a shader mod which made all the colors pop and removed the brownish filter the game seemed to have. This made the game much more stylized and even improved overall quality of the game. That said, I really shouldn't have to. There are also cutscenes within the game whicg are little more than two characters staring at one another, unanimated aside from thier mouths talking. The Gameplay?Solid, with good feeling guns, and a support system that works extremely well. The melee combat has been significantly dumbed down, with civilians never attacking you, the only options for enemies are a regular hit or special finisher. The driving is a slightly looser version of Mafia 2's, and seems to encourage fast driving and drifting. Wounds are not realistic at all. Instead of holes, you create a splatter which coats the entirety of the head or body. There are no visible wounds when the enemies die. The missions, while interesting at first, are formulaic for a long time after that. And while they're no more formulaic than GTAV, Mafia III lacks all of the character neccessary to hide that fact. This coupled with identical set peices makes for a Job of a game. The underboss system works, I suppose, however, it feels very bare bones, with the biggest effect it can have is a betrayal if you don't give one boss enough of a cut.TL;DRThe game is painfully average for newcomers, with some bright spots along the way. For veterans of the sieries, especcialy those fresh from Mafia 2, Mafia III will dissapoint you. While there were a few genuinely good scenes which were on par with Mafia 2, it isn't consistent. The only two great things in this game were the soundtrack, and the honest depiction of racism, but if that's all I need, I could have just turned on spotify and browsed reddit for a while.I purchased the game and all the DLC for 15 dollars, and I still feel like I overpaid.. just a repetitive game with SJW Identity politics in the mix. gave it lot of opportunity to get better but hasn't one of the biggest ♥♥♥♥s before mass effect Andromeda.. The story is really good the thing is...It's too damn repetitive. It is unbearable how you have to just get the disctricts over and over and over again, It just makes me want to ALT+F4 after doing another stupid district capture. After 10 hours it gets boring, real fast. I say just don't buy the game, watch all the cutscenes from Youtube then the game becomes a movie and it becomes good. I wish it was as good as Mafia 1 and 2Pros and ConsPros:+Story+Characters+Background of characters and story+Music and soundtracks+Voices and dialouges (Except the NPC's, they are repetitive and trash)+The action sometimes feels pretty good.Cons-Graphics are not too good, not even for it's time. -Mouth tracking sucks, NPC's show no emotions (even when their damn dad dies)-R E P E T I T I V E-Agonizing side-missions-Glitches-A lot of glitches-Graphics bug and rare crashes-Mirrors.-Lack of detail in places, some are good thoBuy when there is discount? -NO. Too many bugs in game...
